Our mission statement:
PITCH BLACK PICTURES™
focuses on the production of feature films, feature shorts, documentaries and music videos. Our current production project “Kristen Black™©” falls into the feature film category.
It is our objective to produce projects such as the project “Kristen Black™©” with decidedly lower budgets than major studio films, without sacrificing quality of content.
With Tommy Pattison as writer and director, Trace Roberts as executive producer and coordinator and Joseph Michaud as production manager, we have, with virtually no budget, completed approximately half of the pre-production process, including establishing copyrights, completing the audition process /casting, shoot scheduling and budgeting. Alike we have assembled a core group of highly motivated individuals making up our Skeleton Crew Productions™ team. E.g. Make-up, photography, lighting, grips, sound, etc…
Is there a market? History informs us that even during times of economic recession, even depression, the film industry can and does flourish. I.e. Marion C. Cooper’s 1933 film King Kong, released in the heart of the “Great Depression”. The film went on to be one of the top grossing films of the era. The contemporary market follows suit. Why? Consumers worldwide have typically used the cinema as an escape, a way to distance themselves from the pitfalls our lives have to offer.
In relation, our demographic…“Kristen Black™©’s” cross genre style, will appeal to a wide range of viewers of all ages, from the early sci-fi/horror fan, to the hard core horror fan, and on to the teen drama fan. Even fans of the thriller/police drama will find something to enjoy.
Our competition? Obviously the major motion picture studios… However has been proven the major studios regularly produce high budget flops, surely due to loss of creativity and vision…“blinded by big budgets”. Also proven is the ability of independent film makers to rise above the lack of budget, having to improvise, adapt and overcome, often times pouring their heart and soul into the film, a fact which is usually not lost with the audience. This struggle makes it more personal, thus delivering a decidedly more powerful film.
Distribution… our first stop with the project “Kristen Black™©” will land us square in the middle of the Sundance film festival, as it is the Mecca for independent films. We will then proceed show our film to the rest of the festival circuit. Due to the recent rise in interest of the zombie genre as well the thrilling nature of the film, there is a strong fan base. Therefore we are certain “Kristen Black™©” will be chosen for distribution. See you in theaters worldwide…
Our purpose:
We have many new and exciting projects in the works, including our first featured film, featured shorts, and short stories. Our current bodies of work include nine screenplays, and several short works. It is our goal to collaborate with experienced producers and/or well established production companies with whom we can produce our first full featured screenplay "Kristen Black™ ©".
